Lissa Pohl holds a Masters Degree in Transformational Leadership Development from The Union Institute & University. She joined the University of Kentucky’s Center for Leadership Development as Program & Outreach Associate in January 2008 after working as a Manager of Training and Leadership Development for Thomas & King, Inc., a large restaurant franchiser. Prior to this Lissa worked as an independent organizational consultant with non-profit and small businesses in the Bluegrass area and in the whole foods industry.
Teaching people how to ‘embody’ leadership competencies is Lissa’s area of expertise. Lissa facilitates workshops and conducts research on the effectiveness of Equine Guided Leadership Education workshops in developing leadership competencies in humans. She is certified as a Lights On Leadership ™ Coach, a Leadership Circle (360) Profile Facilitator, an Equine Experiential Education Association Corporate Trainer and a Plexus Team Spirit Facilitator.
Lissa has over 46 years of experience with horses. She grew up riding ponies and horses and showed in hunting, jumping and dressage. She has been a volunteer at Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center and Central Kentucky Riding for Hope. She continues to enjoy riding, integrated horsemanship and horse care.
Lissa hails from Boulder, Colorado and Seattle, Washington and moved to Lexington, KY with her husband and two daughters in 1999.
